Be a new creation
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV) Every morning is a new creation. It is a day of new opportunities. It is a day of new celebrations. It is a day of new blessings that He has in store for us. Understanding this is the key to living life Captivated and walking in the newness of life.
Certainly there are problems and circumstances throughout our lives that will travel from one day to the next, but so does God’s peace. Just because you went to bed with a problem and you woke up with that same problem, doesn’t mean God isn’t preparing the solution. He is working tirelessly on your behalf. While you rest He never stops advocating and working to draw you closer to Him and advance you in your journey of life.
One of the greatest habits you can form is to count your blessings. When you first arise in the morning your mind can quickly drift to the burdens of the day. Let your mind rest on Him. First thing in the morning and then all throughout the day, maintain the discipline of resting our thoughts in Him. Just like a child resting in his father’s lap, rest in Him. Capture every thought and make it obedient to the Word of God says. Focus on what He would do and how the Word of God has shown us how He would respond in a situation like that.
Let your mornings be a time where you count your blessings. List them out one by one. God already knows that you have needs and what they are, and He supplies those needs based on His glorious riches (Philippians 4:19). Anytime you find your thoughts drifting from Him, capture that distraction and cast it away from you. Replace that thought with His Word and let it wash over you, and bring you peace. Stay Captivated!
